This class is designed for the complete beginners, to introduce crinoline to the un-converted.
A basic class in learning the rules of:
• How to pull the thread to give fullness and how to shape around a block
• How to dispose of the fullness to create inverted downward and upward positioned curves.
• How to make a basic butt seal to hold cut ends together
• How to attach to your hat or headdress
Skills Workshop: Samples made in class for working with crinoline fabrics
Level: Must have experience of sewing, wiring and use of a crown block.
You will learn how to:
• Pull the string to dispose of the fullness
• Make a hat trim frill
• Neaten the untidy ends together with a simple butt-end seal
Tools YOU need to bring for this class :
- Breathable mask, ‘N95’ is the one Denise uses, for mild fumes and it’s a disposable one. It should have a small filter on the front. Purchased from any DIY store. It’s 8,99€ for 3 at Leroy Merlin in Barcelona (You cannot participate without your own mask)
- Dolly head, ideally made of styrofoam* (let us know in the form if you don’t have one)
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
- Size 6 &7 needles
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Glass headed pins long and short
