Learn how to create your own straw feathers from sinamay and turn it into a unique headpiece. These can be easily dyed, shaped and wired to create the desired outcome for your headpiece. And it’s a great alternative to using real feathers.
In this 8 hour workshop students will learn how to make straw feathers, a wire headband, wire the feathers and create a simple feather headpiece. Once feathers are attached you will bind the headband and finish off your piece. You will walk away with skills learnt in this workshop and be able to create more elaborate pieces without time contraints.
Skills you will learn:
-how to create a template
-how to cut and fray the feather
-how to shape and manipulate the feather
-how to wire the feathers
-how to make a wire headband
-how to attach the feathers to your headband
-how to bind your headband
